Following a series of underperforming projects from Prince Harry, reports suggest Meghan Markle is now taking control of the couple’s media ventures. According to a report by RadarOnline, industry insiders claim the Duchess of Sussex has become the driving force behind their production company, Archewell, effectively turning it into what one source described as a “one-woman operation.”
“Netflix has learned that Meghan is the one with the media instincts. She’s polished, camera-ready, and understands how to build a brand,” a senior production source told the outlet. “Even though her programs are always mocked, she still understands the camera from her acting days.”
The insider continued, “Harry’s ideas haven’t worked – the audience just isn’t there. At this point, she’s the face of the business and he’s taking a back seat.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a five-year, $100 million deal with Netflix in 2020.

Their 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan drew strong viewership but also significant criticism for its portrayal of the royal family. Despite the controversy, it remains their most-watched project to date. Since then, Harry’s solo efforts have struggled to attract attention. His recent show, Polo, reportedly drew fewer than 500,000 viewers.
“Harry wanted to show a side of the sport that people hadn’t seen,” said an insider familiar with their deal. “But it didn’t connect. The subject felt out of touch, and the production lacked energy.” In contrast, Meghan’s latest project, With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle and cooking series, has performed better on the platform.
The show earned a surprise second-season renewal this summer after generating notable engagement. “Meghan’s work might divide opinion, but it gets attention. That’s what Netflix cares about,” another industry source explained. “The renewal was as much about her profile as the program’s performance.”

A Los Angeles-based PR consultant added that the streaming giant sees value in keeping Meghan front and center. “The streamer wants to keep her on board,” the consultant said. “Harry’s creative role has been reduced to producing credits and behind-the-scenes work. He’s lost momentum.”
While public reaction to the couple’s projects remains mixed, insiders agree that Meghan’s media savvy and Hollywood experience continue to appeal to networks and producers. For now, it appears the Duchess is steering the direction of Archewell’s entertainment future while Harry steps into a quieter, supporting role.
