Prince Andrew is once again facing questions about his past ties to Jeffrey Epstein after newly revealed emails suggest he may not have cut off contact with the disgraced financier as early as he claimed.
In his infamous 2019 Newsnight interview, Andrew insisted that his final communication with Epstein happened in December 2010, during a visit to Epstein’s townhouse in Manhattan. But a new report from The Sunday Times points to emails indicating the Duke of York may have still been in touch years later.
One email exchange from 2015 between Epstein and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak shows Epstein referencing Andrew as a source of information about possible business dealings in China.
“Weathy (sic) Chines (sic) looking for to start personal (sic) protection co in Beijing,” Epstein wrote, before adding, “kidnapping has begun.” When Barak asked where this information came from, Epstein replied, “Andrew.” When pressed further, Epstein confirmed again, “Yes.”
The revelations don’t stop there. This isn’t the first time Andrew’s version of events has been contradicted. After his Newsnight appearance, it was revealed that in 2011, the Duke had exchanged emails with Epstein discussing press coverage and adding, “Keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon!!!!” Those messages suggested a relationship that extended beyond the 2010 cutoff Andrew publicly claimed.
The latest emails were first published by Reason magazine and later verified by The Sunday Times. The paper reported that phone numbers, email addresses, and handwriting linked to Barak were checked to confirm the authenticity of the documents.
The resurfacing of these records has renewed scrutiny over Andrew’s past, highlighting inconsistencies in his statements and fueling ongoing debate about his involvement with Epstein after their supposed split. While Andrew has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, the trail of emails continues to cast doubt on just how firmly those ties were ever severed.
