Royal Family Aide Breaks Silence on Meghan Markle’s Alleged Bullying Controversy in First Interview

A former aide to Prince William and Kate Middleton has spoken publicly for the first time about Meghan Markle’s alleged bullying scandal, years after his internal email detailing the claims was leaked to the media.

Jason Knauf, the former communications secretary for the Prince and Princess of Wales, addressed the controversy in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, revealing how the Duchess of Sussex’s alleged treatment of palace staff put him in the public spotlight.

The bullying allegations, which surfaced in 2021, were based on an email Knauf sent years earlier, in which he raised concerns about Meghan’s behavior toward royal staff. The issue gained traction just before Prince Harry and Meghan’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, intensifying public scrutiny.

Speaking about the intense attention he received after his email leaked, Knauf admitted the experience was challenging. “I think it, it’s tough, but it’s probably quite good,” he said. “You know, someone who has been helping other people through how to deal with the public eye.”

He added, “You probably had to take your own medicine sometimes.” When asked if he would handle things differently, Knauf stood by his actions. “No, it’s not what I would’ve sought, but you know at the end of the day, you get to do an amazing job. You’ve got to take everything that comes with it.”

Despite the controversy surrounding the allegations, Knauf shared positive reflections about working with Harry and Meghan, describing his time with the couple as memorable. “I worked really closely with the two of them, and we had lots of great times,” he said. Knauf also spoke fondly of Harry and Meghan’s 2018 royal wedding, which he helped organize.

“Working on their wedding was an amazing, magical experience, and you know I wish them absolutely all the best with their lovely family.” While the Duchess of Sussex has denied the bullying allegations, Buckingham Palace conducted a private review into the matter.

The results were never made public, fueling speculation about the findings. Knauf’s latest remarks offer a rare glimpse behind the royal curtain, as tensions between Prince Harry, Meghan, and the rest of the royal family continue to make headlines.
