Meghan Markle Reportedly Refuses to Return to the United Kingdom Amid Criticism

Meghan Markle has no plans to return to the United Kingdom, according to a royal expert who claims the Duchess of Sussex is fully aware of how unpopular she has become there. The Duchess, who stepped down as a senior royal in 2020 and moved to the United States with her husband, Prince Harry, has faced constant public scrutiny since her departure from royal life.

While some reports have suggested that Meghan may be open to returning to the UK, journalist Phil Dampier insists that such a move is highly unlikely. “I think the only time he’s going to come back here is on his own,” Dampier said on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive podcast. “I think she knows how unpopular she is here.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to leave the Royal Family in 2020 sent shockwaves through the monarchy. At the time, the couple announced their plan to step back from royal duties and become financially independent while splitting their time between North America and the UK.

However, their eventual relocation to California marked a complete break from royal life. The couple has since spoken openly about their experiences within the royal institution, accusing members of the family of racism and expressing frustration with the pressures of public life. Their explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, along with Harry’s later memoir, further deepened tensions between them and the rest of the royal household.

Harry and Meghan now reside in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Despite building a new life in the United States, public interest in their relationship with the Royal Family remains strong—particularly following the couple’s strained interactions with senior royals during recent visits.

Royal commentators believe that Meghan’s return to the UK would be met with intense media attention and potential hostility from critics. “There’s still a lot of anger and resentment toward her among royal supporters,” one source told The Sun. “It would be a difficult environment for her to reenter.”

While Prince Harry has made several solo trips to the UK in recent years, including visits related to his legal cases and charitable events, Meghan has largely stayed behind in California.

For now, it appears that the Duchess of Sussex intends to maintain her distance from royal life and focus on her family and career in the United States. Despite speculation about reconciliation, experts suggest Meghan’s return to the UK remains unlikely in the near future.
