Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘not worth the hassle’ anymore, says paparazzo

The once-intense media frenzy surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry is quickly losing steam, at least according to some of Hollywood’s seasoned paparazzi.

Mark Karloff, a veteran LA-based photographer, revealed in a recent interview with Techreport via The Post that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex just aren’t the money-making subjects they used to be.

“When Harry and Meghan first came here [to California], it was a mad scramble to find where they were staying, where they were going to be living, and it was every photographer in LA trying to find out every secret,” Karloff recalled.

But the buzz didn’t last. Karloff claims the couple staged “mock photo-ops” early on, appearing in public during charity events that he believes were coordinated with their own photographers. The move left many in the paparazzi world frustrated.

“They were doing setups, they would pop up and be doing some charity work, and I think it was their photographers,” he added.

Karloff says he initially covered a few of their appearances following their 2020 move to California, but eventually stepped away from the royal chase. “Then I decided it was too much for me,” he said. “The craziness of that kind of photo, I stay away from that because it’s not exclusive, and they don’t make as much money.”

Simply put, the profit just doesn’t match the effort anymore. “In the US, and in my experience, [interest] has died down a lot. Now they aren’t worth the hassle, and the payday isn’t the same,” Karloff explained.

The photographer also pointed to the couple’s desire to control their public image, with Meghan, in particular, wanting tight control over how she’s seen. “People don’t care as much as they used to… I think they want control, Meghan especially,” he said.

Once global tabloid darlings, Harry and Meghan may now be experiencing the flip side of fame in Hollywood, where public interest can be as fleeting as the flash of a camera.
