Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s spokesperson has broken the couple’s silence amid renewed speculation regarding the royal titles of their children, Archie and Lilibet.
The response follows reports suggesting Prince William has made a definitive decision about the roles Archie and Lilibet will—or will not—play within the royal institution, specifically ruling out any future working royal positions for them.
According to a source close to the Prince of Wales, who spoke to the Daily Beast, “William obviously isn’t going to hire Archie and Lilibet.” The source went on to mock the Sussexes’ apparent assumptions, saying, “This is just trolling on the part of Harry and Meghan. It’s hilarious that no one even noticed it for ten days, until the Mail did it.”
The insider continued, casting doubt on any expectation that the couple’s children might return to royal duties later in life. “The idea that somehow having a vestigial HRH as a baby later entitles you to be a working royal is beyond parody, even for them.”

The source further emphasized, “Harry and Meghan were asked by the Queen to stop using their HRHs, and agreed. Obviously, any reasonable person would understand that would mean your kids don’t use them either.”
In response to the mounting commentary, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed that the couple does not use their HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles for any commercial endeavors. The clarification, shared via the Daily Mail, aimed to put to rest claims that Meghan and Harry are misusing royal designations.
A source close to the couple, now based in California, reiterated that while Meghan and Harry no longer publicly use the HRH styles, the titles themselves have not been removed. “Their titles remain,” the insider confirmed, underscoring that the couple continues to hold the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The issue of royal titles for Archie and Lilibet has been a contentious topic ever since the couple stepped back from royal duties in 2020. The children became eligible for royal titles following the accession of King Charles III, but the question of whether those titles will carry any real meaning or function remains unresolved.
While Buckingham Palace has not released an official statement on the matter, the contrasting narratives from both sides highlight the continuing rift within the royal family—a division that appears far from mending.
