Princess Kate is emerging as a firm force behind Palace decisions, with reports suggesting she is playing a central role in efforts to push Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie further to the margins of royal life.
The York sisters have long been caught in the fallout of their parents’ scandals. Prince Andrew’s disgraced ties to Jeffrey Epstein and Sarah Ferguson’s own controversial associations have cast a long shadow over the family, affecting their professional, personal, and social standing in ways that show no sign of easing.
King Charles has taken a cautious middle ground. While he reportedly barred his nieces from this year’s Easter gathering, he has not abandoned them entirely. An invitation to Royal Ascot signalled that the monarch is unwilling to shut the door on them completely during what has been an undeniably difficult period for the family.
However, that gesture of goodwill did not go down well with the Prince and Princess of Wales. Kate, in particular, is said to be firmly behind her husband as he navigates the monarchy’s future, and she is keen to keep Beatrice and Eugenie at a careful distance from anything resembling official royal duties.
According to Heat magazine, William and Kate have now made a joint push to bring the York sisters’ royal roles to a formal end. A source close to the couple explained that the move is not driven by personal animosity: “It’s not about being unkind it’s about protecting the institution and making sure the public sees consistency in how things are handled.”
The couple reportedly has no objection to Beatrice and Eugenie attending private family occasions, but their presence alongside the Wales family at public engagements is said to be a different matter entirely.
“Kate and William want the York situation resolved. And that means Beatrice and Eugenie must step back from anything that resembles official royal life,” a source told the outlet.
