Prince Harry may have briefly regained some goodwill from King Charles after their recent reunion, but his future within the royal fold is facing new uncertainty. A major decision by the King has reportedly set off alarm bells for the Duke of Sussex, while his relationship with Prince William remains as strained as ever.
According to royal insiders, Charles has kept communication lines open with Harry, even as William continues to keep his distance. The Prince of Wales is said to be “still furious” with his brother and has made no effort to reconnect. While Charles hopes his sons will eventually repair their relationship, he also relies heavily on William’s judgment when it comes to preserving the monarchy’s stability.
A new concern has emerged for Harry following the King’s handling of Prince Andrew. After Andrew was stripped of all royal titles and his use of the Prince style, one biographer says the move “changes everything” for the Sussexes. The severity of the consequences imposed on Andrew has reportedly unsettled Harry, raising questions about what could happen to him in the future.
Biographer Tom Bower told The Mirror that the move delivered an “unbelievable shock” to Harry and that he must now “fear” that William could take even harsher action once he becomes king. Bower said there is little chance for Harry to repair the damage: the Prince of Wales remains deeply hurt, particularly over the impact on Kate. According to the author, there is nothing Harry can do to “reverse the hurt” he has caused.
Bower also suggested that financial pressure could push Harry and Meghan into risky territory. He claimed the couple is on “borrowed time,” explaining that their income streams may not be as secure as they appear. He warned, “The Sussexes have a real problem because Meghan isn’t making any serious money and nor is Harry really, so the threat is they’ll do something foolish and damaging to the royal family.”
If the couple were to release more projects similar to their Netflix series, the Oprah interview, or Harry’s memoir, Spare, Bower believes William would respond decisively. As he put it, the future king would not hesitate to be “ruthless” in protecting the monarchy.
The tension leaves Harry in a difficult position. Even with Charles showing a willingness to maintain contact, William’s influence over the institution’s future is undeniable. And for the Duke of Sussex, that reality may be the most troubling part of all.
