Harry and Meghan Hit Rock Bottom in UK Polls as Royal Fans Turn Against Them

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity in the United Kingdom has fallen to new record lows, according to recent data from a YouGov poll. The decline, attributed to a string of controversial public appearances and business ventures, marks a significant shift in public sentiment toward the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

As reported by GB News, only 20% of Britons now view Meghan Markle positively, while a staggering 65% hold an unfavorable opinion of her, her lowest approval rating to date. Prince Harry fares only slightly better, with 27% viewing him positively and 63% unfavorably, representing his lowest score in the past two years.

The drop comes amid a series of high-profile moves by the couple. Harry’s recent BBC interview, in which he expressed frustration over losing his legal battle for police protection in the UK, drew widespread criticism. Meghan, meanwhile, has launched a lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and released a Netflix series titled With Love, Meghan—efforts that Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker says have failed to turn the tide.

“It’s been a steady decline,” Walker told GB News. “Some people just liked it as an easy watch,” he said of Meghan’s Netflix series, “but a lot of people clearly thought it wasn’t great… for example, it wasn’t filmed in her own kitchen.”

Walker noted that Harry’s emotional BBC appearance may have further damaged his standing with the British public. “[Harry was] basically saying it was incredibly unfair… the institution is out to get him,” he said. “It was a bit of a rant.”

The couple’s public perception continues to suffer in contrast to other members of the royal family. Prince William and Kate Middleton remain firmly in favor, with Prince William holding a 75% approval rating and the Princess of Wales close behind at 72%.

Despite stepping down from their senior royal roles in 2020 and relocating to California, Harry and Meghan have remained in the spotlight. Their projects—ranging from media production deals to legal disputes—have kept them in the headlines, but not always in a favorable light.

The latest poll numbers suggest that their rebranding efforts are not resonating with the British public. As Walker concluded, “It’s not just one thing—it’s a combination of events and choices that have led to this steady erosion of support.”

Whether the Sussexes can recover from this downward trajectory remains to be seen, but for now, the gap between them and the rest of the royal family appears wider than ever.
