Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly received a pointed warning about their long-term position on the global stage, as experts suggest that fame and royal ties alone may not be enough to sustain their influence in an increasingly competitive environment.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently made headlines following a two-day humanitarian visit to Jordan. Their trip brought them back into public focus at a time when the wider royal family is facing renewed scrutiny linked to the Epstein saga.
Amid this backdrop, public relations expert Mayah Riaz shared her perspective on the couple’s evolving path. Reflecting on their situation since stepping back from royal duties, she noted that they now operate without the structural backing they once had.
“They no longer have the institutional weight of the monarchy behind them. Without that framework, they are competing in a very crowded celebrity marketplace,” she said.

Riaz further emphasised the realities of navigating modern public life. “In today’s world, star power alone is not enough. You need a clear lane and a compelling reason for people to keep watching.”
In her comments to the Mirror, she acknowledged that Harry and Meghan remain widely recognised figures with significant global reach. However, she stressed that recognition must now be paired with relevance to maintain public engagement.
“It is about consistency, credibility and connection,” she explained.
Riaz also suggested that ongoing controversies surrounding the royal family may limit the Sussexes’ ability to stand out independently. Issues such as the Andrew scandal, she noted, tend to dominate attention and shift public focus toward the institution itself.

“If anything, what we see is that the public often rallies around stability in turbulent moments,” Mayah added.
Her remarks highlight the challenges faced by high-profile figures operating outside traditional support systems. While the Sussexes’ visibility remains strong, experts believe that sustaining influence requires a clearly defined direction and meaningful engagement.
As public interest continues to shift rapidly in today’s media landscape, their future impact may depend not just on their past connections but also on how effectively they build a distinct, consistent presence moving forward.
