Prince Harry is reportedly upset after his wife, Meghan Markle, became the target of online criticism for a video she posted during her recent trip to Paris.
According to sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the controversy erupted when Meghan shared a short clip showing herself relaxing with her feet up while traveling through Paris. Viewers quickly noticed that part of the video appeared to have been filmed near the Pont de l’Alma tunnel — the site of Princess Diana’s tragic car crash in 1997.
The clip sparked backlash on social media, with some accusing Meghan of being insensitive. However, a friend of the couple said that the Duchess had no idea she was close to the location and never passed through the tunnel itself.

One of Harry and Meghan’s friends told reporters that the Duke took the criticism personally. “Harry was left hurt and upset. Diana’s death was used as a stick to beat his wife with,” the source said. “[Meghan] did not even pass close to the tunnel.”
The insider added that while Harry was deeply affected by the situation, he wasn’t surprised by the public reaction. “He was left feeling hurt, but the depressing thing is, he wasn’t even that surprised. He was more despondent than shocked,” the friend explained.

The controversy came just days after Meghan made her debut appearance at Paris Fashion Week, attending the Balenciaga show. The Duchess was seen supporting designer Pierpaolo Piccioli, whom she has worked with on several past occasions.
A spokesperson for Meghan shared a statement clarifying her reasons for attending the event, highlighting her long-standing connection with the designer. “Over the years, the Duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together, collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage,” the spokesperson said.

“She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different,” the statement continued. “This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga.”
While the backlash over the Paris video has added unwanted attention to the couple’s week, insiders say the Sussexes are focusing on their work and family life in California. Still, the episode has reportedly reopened old wounds for Harry, who remains protective of his late mother’s memory. For him, the incident is another reminder of how easily public scrutiny can turn painful.
