Attorney General Pam Bondi has offered fresh insight into the unusual sleeping habits of President Donald Trump, noting his relentless energy and constant activity. Bondi, speaking on The Katie Miller Show, called Trump “the kindest, warmest, toughest, smartest human being I know,” before addressing the 79-year-old president’s late-night routine.
“None of us can keep up with him; we always joke,” she said. “I don’t know how he does it. I mean, none of us know when he sleeps. He’s working all the time, and it’s just constant for him.” She added, “There aren’t enough hours in the day for any of us.”
Trump’s pattern of little sleep has been noticed by allies and critics alike. He is known for posting lengthy messages on Truth Social during the night, often in capital letters and in bursts that suggest little rest. The National Institute of Aging recommends adults his age get seven to nine hours of sleep each night.

The agency also notes that older adults often sleep less soundly and may face medical issues or medication side effects that affect rest. Bondi’s comments came days after Vice President JD Vance told Fox News that Trump “doesn’t have an off switch.”
Vance described receiving calls at “12:30 or 2:00 in the morning” followed by new calls just hours later. “It’s like, ‘Mr. President, did you go to sleep last night?’” Vance recalled. Musician Kid Rock has echoed similar experiences. “I did this kind of sleep study a few years ago with Cleveland Clinic, and the result was basically there’s like 2 percent of people who sleep four or five hours a night are just fine,” the 54-year-old performer said in May.
He added that Trump seems to fall into that rare category, recalling conversations with him at 2 a.m. and then again just before sunrise. The focus on Trump’s energy comes amid heightened attention to his health. Observers noted his swollen ankles and bruised hands, which he attempted to conceal during a recent Oval Office meeting.

The White House later attributed the swelling to chronic venous insufficiency, a condition where veins struggle to return blood to the heart. Last month, former White House physician Ronny Jackson, who has faced controversy over his past claims, declared Trump “the healthiest president this nation has ever seen” and “mentally and physically sharper than ever before.”
In 2018, Jackson said Trump averaged only “four to five hours” of sleep a night, a habit he suggested has lasted throughout Trump’s life.
