This is a family that is really, I guess, allergic to telling the truth: Trump Family’s Alleged Truth Allergy Could Spell Disaster in Fraud Trial

As the high-stakes civil fraud trial involving the Trump family unfolds in New York, a noted legal authority has cast a spotlight on the family’s struggle with truthfulness, suggesting that this trait could have serious legal ramifications.

Neal Katyal, a prominent figure in the legal community and former acting solicitor general, weighed in on the Trump family’s legal woes during a late-night segment on MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle.” Katyal, known for his straightforward legal analysis, did not mince words when it came to assessing the Trumps’ current predicament. “This is a family that is really, I guess, allergic to telling the truth,” he remarked, implying that their aversion to factual testimony might be their undoing.

According to The Raw Story on November 02, 2023, Katyal’s comments come at a time when the Trump family is facing intense scrutiny over their business practices. The trial in question aims to uncover whether fraudulent activities were systematically carried out by the Trump Organization, the family’s eponymous business empire. The implications of the trial are far-reaching, not just for the organization’s business prospects, but for the family’s reputation and potential future in politics.

Katyal specifically pointed out that next week will be the biggest problem for the Trump family.

“The entire basis of this case is that they lied about their assets, and so I think the next week when each of the Trumps is going to have to swear in and tell the truth under penalty of perjury, is going to be a very tough time for the Trump family,” he said. “With respect to Don Jr. and what he says, two possibilities, either he’s choosing to mislead the judge, the public about his business knowledge, or he came awfully close during I guess flunking out of Wharton — because it’s really convenient how Don Jr. seems to have forgotten information that could be damaging to him, as you’ve said in the lead up to the segment before the interview. And it kind of looks like he’s intentionally decided to play dumb here, which might be a nice change of pace for him.”
