The former president and present presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has been indicted again, an act which Republicans are denouncing as politically motivated and an instance of “election interference.”
As per The Post Millennial, Trump faces four charges relating to the events of January 6, 2021, which have been widely misrepresented. These charges include “conspiracy to defraud the government, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.”
On the day in question, Trump had asked his followers to express their views “peacefully and patriotically“. He also used social media to call for peace following the Capitol breach. As further evidence has revealed, many of those accused were peaceful and were wrongly charged with violence or destruction. Clearly, Trump did not intentionally obstruct any official proceeding, given his public and digital declarations of non-support for any actions of breaching the Capitol.
Moreover, making accusations of electoral fraud isn’t criminal. If it were, several Democrats who termed the 2016 election as illegitimate would be facing legal action. Regardless of the accuracy of his claims, Trump isn’t a criminal for raising allegations of election fraud. These indictments increasingly seem frivolous.
This recent indictment also implicates six “co-conspirators”, according to USA Today, allegedly including Jeffrey Clark, a former Trump official who openly criticizes the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ). It seems like the Biden DOJ is demonstrating its bias by targeting its detractors.
Republicans have taken to social media to react to the indictment. “When you drain The Swamp, The Swamp fights back,” tweeted Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), “President Trump did nothing wrong!” Jack Posobiec of “Human Events” humorously noted, “The Biden Admin just indicted the leading opposition candidate. Again.”
Legal authority Mark Levin criticized the indictment in a series of tweets. He contended that unelected, reckless prosecutors and Democrat DC grand jurors were attempting to dictate the presidential election and accused them of attempting to deny voters the right to choose the next president.
Article III Project’s founder and president Mike Davis also responded with an extensive statement. He pointed out that the Trump indictment coincided with Devon Archer’s testimony, Hunter’s ex-business partner, which exposed the Biden family’s corrupt foreign business dealings and Joe’s lies. Trump was indicted for “the non-crime of twisting political arms and objecting to a presidential election,” actions Davis described as illegal only in third-world Marxist countries.
Finally, Sean Davis of “The Federalist” also accused the Biden DOJ of election interference, stating “The 2020 election was rigged and they’re trying to throw Trump in prison before the 2024 election because they’re not confident they’ll be able to rig that one.”
