U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) defended herself on Sunday after renewed criticism over her comments regarding the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. The controversial congresswoman took to the social media platform X to declare that her anti-war stance was in line with the “America First” agenda, and insisted, “Taking this position is NOT antisemitic.”
Greene, who has previously faced backlash over remarks widely considered antisemitic, responded to critics by accusing others within the conservative movement of abandoning core MAGA values. “Everyone is finding out who is real America First/MAGA and who was fake and just said it because it was popular. Unfortunately, the list of fakes is becoming quite long, and they are exposed quickly,” she wrote.
“Anyone slobbering for the U.S. to become fully involved in the Israel/Iran war is not America First/MAGA.” She went on to denounce involvement in foreign conflicts, calling them a betrayal of American service members and taxpayers, as told to The Daily Beast.
“Wishing for the murder of innocent people is disgusting. We are sick and tired of foreign wars. All of them. And this one will quickly engulf the Middle East, BRICS, and NATO as countries are required to take a side,” Greene said. “Real America First/MAGA wants world peace for all people and doesn’t want our military killed and forever injured physically and mentally.”

Greene stressed her support for U.S. troops, asserting they should be focused on domestic defense, not overseas conflicts. “We love our U.S. military and love them helping to secure our borders and our cities for the defense of OUR PEOPLE AND OUR COUNTRY. They are our friends, spouses, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers, sons, and daughters.”
She cited the financial and emotional toll of past military engagements in the Middle East, arguing that U.S. priorities should be at home. “We have spent TRILLIONS in the Middle East and we have dealt with the aftermath of death, blown apart bodies, never-ending suicides, and disabling PTSD,” Greene added.
“All because they told us propaganda as to why we must sacrifice our own to defend some other country’s borders…” Her remarks included a broader call for international cooperation based on mutual prosperity. “Every country involved and all over the world can be happy, successful, and rich if we all work together and seek peace and prosperity,” she said.
Greene concluded with a fervent defense of her rhetoric: “It’s rational, sane, and loving toward all people… It’s what many Americans voted for in 2024. America First! America First!! America First!!! That is how we Make America Great Again!!!!!” Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has signaled a possible shift toward increased involvement in the region, stating that “America First” means what he decides it means.
