Reports have revealed a disturbing incident in which a 24-year-old social worker was discovered to be having a se*xual relationship with a 13-year-old student. Payton Harleigh Shires was arrested in Franklin County on Friday, Oct. 6.

When the boy’s mother discovered text exchanges between Shires and her adolescent son, she became concerned about the possibility of an inappropriate relationship.

A three-way call was then set up with the boy’s mother, Shires, and the police. During this call, Shires allegedly admitted to having a se*xual relationship with the 13-year-old, as reported by Law and Crime on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Upon investigation, police discovered a shocking video showing Payton Shires having intercourse with the victim.

During a subsequent interview, the boy admitted to having se*xual relations with Shire multiple times in September at different locations in Columbus.

Shires was an employee of the National Youth Advocate (NYAP). The organization provides counseling, social work, and advocacy for families involved in the foster care system, the report said. Since 1978, the group’s website states that it has been offering:

“opportunities and resources to youth and families through our innovative programs and services, and we strongly support and offer guidance to our dedicated foster parents.

” In addition, the organization has been providing “opportunities and resources to youth and families through our innovative programs and services.”

According to the Columbus Dispatch, At this time, NYAP is cooperating fully and working closely with Franklin County Children Services (FCCS) and the Columbus Police Department to assist in their investigation.

Shires has been charged with unlawful se*xual conduct with a minor and is being held at the Franklin County Correctional Centre at this time. During a court appearance on Friday, Judge Mike McAllister set her bond at $500,000.

Are more women se*xually abusing children?

In recent years, there has been a substantial increase in public awareness regarding instances of se*xual assault by women. The evidence does not necessarily indicate that child se*xual abuse by women is increasing. But there is more media attention, which may give the perception that these cases are on the rise.

Various studies portray women who engage in the se*xual abuse of children as solitary individuals who frequently experience social isolation and issues with intimacy. In addition, these women are more likely to have endured an abusive childhood, which may contribute to their behavior. It is essential to note that while many of them may experience emotional difficulties, the majority do not have psychosis or a severe mental illness.
