Trump’s lawyers are turning on each other over Mar-a-Lago investigation: 2 dozen documents labeled as TOP SECRET

Christina Bobb, who signed a letter in June stating that there wasn’t any more sensitive material at the former president’s estate, is talking to federal investigators.

The Trump lawyer who signed a letter in June certifying that all of the sensitive material moved by the former president from the White House to Mar-a-Lago had been returned is speaking with federal investigators.

The news that Bobb is providing to the feds, first reported by NBC News, comes just over two months after the FBI raided Trump’s Palm Beach estate, finding a score of sensitive, classified documents. Of course, this means Bobb’s statement was false. She claims it isn’t her fault, telling investigators that one of Trump’s other lawyers, Evan Corcoran, ordered her to sign it.

NBC News adds that Bobb insisted a disclaimer be added to the letter that it was based on “information that has been provided to me.” The person who provided said information, she told investigators, was Corcoran. “She had to insist on that disclaimer twice before she signed it,” a source told the outlet. “She is not criminally liable. She is not going to be charged. She is not pointing fingers. She is simply a witness to the truth.”

Bobb also allegedly told investigators that Trump legal adviser Boris Epshteyn, whose phone was seized by authorities last month, was involved in the document discussions.

Bobb and her lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Rolling Stone.

On June 3, when Jay Bratt, the Justice Department’s counterintelligence chief, and other agents visited the estate, Bobb signed a letter stating that there was no more classified material at Mar-a-Lago. Bobb and Corcoran took Bratt to the basement where the material was stored, handed over additional material that had not been returned, and claimed there was none left. The FBI raid two months later was reportedly urged by an informant who informed them that classified material was still at Mar-a-Lago.

On August 8, the FBI seized more than 200 classified documents, including two dozen labeled “TOP SECRET.” The Justice Department reportedly informed Trump’s lawyers last week that the former president is still hoarding documents at Mar-a-Lago.
