Florida Mom Killed in Crash After Nearby Truck’s Tire Blowout; Her 3 Kids Injured

A Florida family’s world turned upside down in an instant after a horrific car crash took the life of 32-year-old Olivia Maggs, a devoted mom of three and a beloved figure in her community. Olivia was driving with her children along I-95 South in Brevard County on Monday, May 26, when their van was struck by a pickup truck that suddenly lost control, reported PEOPLE.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2003 Ford F-350 had been traveling in the center lane when one of its tires blew out. The driver, a 58-year-old man, lost control of the truck, which slammed into Olivia’s van. Both vehicles were forced off the road and into a guardrail. Tragically, Olivia was killed at the scene. Her three young children survived the crash but were all injured.

Her two sons, just 3 and 4 years old, are expected to recover from their injuries. Her 8-month-old daughter, however, suffered a broken femur and a brain bleed, and remains in the hospital. While investigators are still trying to determine what caused the tire to blow out, they confirmed that the driver of the truck remained at the scene and was not taken to the hospital. The crash remains under investigation.

Now, Olivia’s husband, Cody Maggs, is left to care for their children while grieving the sudden and painful loss of his wife. The community has quickly stepped in to support him during this unimaginable time. A GoFundMe campaign was created to help the family through the emotional and financial challenges ahead.

“The family now faces a long road of healing; physically and emotionally,” the fundraiser reads. “Your prayers of comfort, peace, and strength to surround them during this devastating time mean more than words can say.” Cody shared a heartfelt tribute to Olivia on Facebook, pouring out his grief and gratitude in a deeply emotional message.

“Olivia is one of the sweetest, gentle, patient, and kindest souls,” he wrote. “A true servant’s heart. A beautiful mother. A loving wife. A nurse who was passionate about helping others.” Olivia’s death has sent shockwaves through the local community, where she was widely known not just as a caring nurse but also as a kind-hearted friend and neighbor.

As word spread, friends, colleagues, and even strangers have rallied to offer meals, donations, and comfort to the Maggs family in their time of need. This tragic accident is a painful reminder of how quickly life can change and how even a routine drive can end in heartbreak. The family’s strength and the community’s support continue to carry them through, as they face the long road ahead without the woman who was their heart and home.
