A Texas man has been charged with child injury after allegedly leaving a toddler unsupervised in a bathtub where she suffered severe burns from scalding water then concealing the incident from her mother for four days because he was worried about facing consequences.
Bobby Fisher, 36, was arrested Wednesday in McLennan County and is facing charges related to a November 2025 incident that investigators say left the young girl with devastating injuries. The case came to light weeks later when the child complained to another child in the household that her buttocks hurt, prompting the girl’s mother to check on her and discover what police described as “bloody and pink” wounds, according to local KWTX.
The mother immediately took her daughter to a local medical center. Waco police launched an investigation and obtained an arrest warrant that painted a disturbing picture of what allegedly unfolded inside the home. According to court documents, Fisher admitted he had considered seeking medical attention for the child after the burn occurred but chose not to.
“[Fisher] told the [detective] he thought about taking the girl to the hospital after the burn occurred but feared getting in trouble for the burn so he did not take her,” the warrant states.
The injuries the child sustained were serious. Police documented that she had suffered third-degree burns with significant skin removal. During the investigation, the girl told detectives that “Mr. Fisher hurt her butt in the bathroom.”
Fisher offered a different account of events during police interviews, claiming he had briefly left the bathroom to retrieve a diaper and that the toddler had turned on the hot water herself. He acknowledged leaving her unsupervised but insisted the water was not running when he stepped out.
According to the arrest warrant, when he returned, he noticed steam rising from the water but said he “did not check the water temperature or the [girl].” He then turned the shower on and began washing her, which was the moment, he claimed, that her skin began falling off.
Investigators did not find his account convincing. Fisher was reportedly living with the victim’s mother at the time. He was being held on a $10,000 bond.
