In Oklahoma, a tragic incident occurred when a father, identified as Elliott Binney, was arrested following a car crash that resulted in the death of his teenage daughter. The accident happened on the night of January 11, according to multiple news sources.

Bixby police officers arrived at the crash site and discovered 16-year-old Shelby Binney, who had been ejected from the vehicle. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital, as reported by KJRH, which cited police sources. Elliott Binney, Shelby’s father, was allegedly driving the SUV involved in the crash and was accused of fleeing the scene before the police arrived.

Bixby Police Chief Todd Blish informed Fox 23 that Elliott Binney left the crash site, went to a family-owned business, and then used another vehicle to leave the area. The police were able to track this vehicle electronically, which led to his arrest.

The SUV, driven by Elliott, was carrying Shelby and three other family members, including his wife, all of whom were hospitalized. Witnesses reported to the Kansas City Star, citing police, that Elliott was driving at a speed of 70 mph in a no-passing zone at the time of the accident.

Investigators found an open bottle of vodka at the crash site, as reported by Fox 23 and KJRH. Elliott Binney reportedly admitted to purchasing the vodka and consuming some while driving.

Elliott has been charged with first-degree manslaughter, leaving the scene of a collision resulting in death, and illegal passing, according to police statements reported by KJRH. He was released on bond, the outlet noted, citing authorities.

Shelby Binney was remembered in a Facebook post by Oklahoma Xtreme Allstar Cheer for her “heart of gold.” The post highlighted her years as part of their community, her bright presence, her hardworking nature, and her role as a cherished teammate.

The cheer organization expressed their deep sorrow and requested prayers for her family and those affected by her loss. Additionally, a GoFundMe campaign was set up to assist the Binney family with funeral expenses.
