The 25-year-old mother was arrested and charged on Thursday, according to police officials. Authorities say she is now facing one count of concealing the death of a child, one count of abuse of a corpse, one count of obstruction of justice, one count of welfare fraud, and one count of tampering with evidence after allegedly admitting to hiding her 1-year-old baby’s dead body inside a wall in her family home.

According to authorities, the child’s father has been charged with obstructing the rule of law or other governmental responsibilities.

Officers responded to the Pennsylvania home on Thursday to question the 25-year-old mother, Kylie Wilt, about the whereabouts of her infant child. The state’s Department of Child Youth Services notified law enforcement, who already had an investigator on the scene questioning Wilt.

According to prosecutors, the 25-year-old mother first informed the Child Youth Services investigator that her child was in North Carolina. Child Youth Services, on the other hand, was able to definitely prove that Wilt’s claim was false, at which point she refused to answer any further questions.

When police arrived, the mother allegedly informed them that her baby had died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in February. The woman also said that she and the child’s father, Alan Hollis, did not have the money to give the newborn a proper burial.

According to the 25-year-old mother, after the child died, she wrapped the infant’s body in a blanket and placed it in a crate that she placed in a hole in her home’s wall. She then allegedly restored the hole with new drywall and repainted the wall.

The responding officers got a search warrant and spotted a wall with a shade of paint off. They found the crate with the child’s remains inside the wall.

The Child Youth Services had already been looking into the mother since doctors reportedly found THC in the baby’s bloodstream when she gave birth.

According to police, an investigation into the child’s death is ongoing. The 25-year-old mother is due to appear before District Judge Porter on November 18 at 10:45 a.m.

This is an ongoing story that will be updated as new information becomes available.
