A 33-year-old Ohio man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his father to death inside their Sycamore Township home, according to Hamilton County court records and sheriff’s officials. Deputies were called to the home on Wicklow Avenue around 7 p.m. Thursday, when they found 69-year-old John Luecke suffering from multiple stab wounds.
His son, Jared Luecke, was taken into custody and charged with murder and tampering with evidence following what authorities described as “the suspect’s own admissions as well as physical evidence recovered at the scene.” In a chilling 911 call, Jared told the dispatcher, “I need to be arrested. I have been in a fight with my father and I think he is dead.”
According to a sheriff’s affidavit, an argument between the two men escalated when Jared “retrieved a crowbar and a knife from his bedroom.” The report states that Jared first struck his father twice in the shoulder with the crowbar before his father tried to defend himself by grabbing it.
According to the report WXIX, “The suspect picked the knife up from the floor, which had fallen from his pocket, and stabbed (his father) in the front of his body seven to eight times,” the affidavit continues.
In the same 911 call, Jared described how the confrontation unfolded. “Yeah, we got into an altercation, and he shoved me, and I have always carried a knife. And it fell out of my pocket. And he picked it up, and I thought he was gonna come at me, and I just… I snapped,” he said.
Jared also told the dispatcher that he was struggling mentally. “I’m not okay mentally,” he admitted. “I’ve had mental issues for a while, and I’ve tried telling people that I needed help, and nobody ever cared. I’ve had undiagnosed depression and also some ADHD – I don’t know, something is wrong with me.”
Deputies arrived minutes later to find Jared surrendering peacefully. After being read his Miranda rights, he reportedly told detectives that he tried to clean up the scene using “floor cleaning products he retrieved from the kitchen.”
He was booked into the Hamilton County Jail just before 11 p.m. Thursday and held without bond overnight. On Friday, Judge Bernie Bouchard set his bond at $1 million. Officials confirmed that this is Jared Luecke’s first time in the county jail.
