Arthritis is a form of joint disorder which is seen in elderly people and it is extremely painful in some case. Bones are made up of Collagen, vitamins, minerals and most importantly calcium. The outer layer of bone has a thick and dense tissue volume and the inner layer consists of a spongy bone which is flexible and contains bone marrow inside it. 99% of calcium in human body is stored in bones and teeth and around 70% of bone weight contains calcium.

The reason we’re talking about the structure of bones is because of the amount of calcium level it contains which reflects the importance of calcium for human body. As a matter of fact human body cannot produce calcium for itself; hence it is essential to be absorbed through food intake and that is only possible when we follow a few diets fits for arthritis.

Why do women have weaker bones as compared to men?

  • Biological, genetic predisposition and hormonal reasons.
  • Women have lighter and thinner bones.
  • Bones become weak and thin right after the menopause.

It is disease in which bone mineral density is decreased to a dangerous level which might increase the chances of fracture. The risky part of this disease is that it has no symptoms at all and is very common in women. The only way to prevent from this disease is to take care of bones with intake of calcium and doing regular exercise.

Is Osteoarthritis something really serious?

It is also caused by ‘wear and tear’ on joints and bones, which is a normal result of aging. There are different kinds of arthritis’s which a women can have, so it depends on the type of the arthritis which makes it serious or not accordingly. Almost every women gets arthritis in her 40’s but the level might vary and the stages of arthritis keep on changing with time. The unfortunate part of this disease is that it is not completely curable but is preventable with the help of proper diet and regular exercise.

A Proper diet is very important to stay away or to get rid of arthritis. You need to have a healthy diet which must have a good quantity of everything required by the body and the bones especially calcium containing food items such as Dairy products,  dark green leafy vegetables and calcium fortified foods.

A few things which are important other than diet are:

Regular exercise: Do exercise on daily basis in order to make your muscles, joints and bones stronger. The exercises might include stretch training, range of motion and normal stretching.

Watch your weight: Normally women stop worrying about their weight after getting married or after child’s birth which is not suggested because it can cause obesity. You need to have a watch for your weight and stay fit to prevent it.

Take supplements:  Taking large amount of supplements is harmful but a little amount to increase the calcium level in the body does not harm rather it is healthy for women over their 40’s.

Good posture & Toned muscles: You must have a good body posture while sitting, standing, and walking. One should also sleep in a good posture so that the back bone stays healthy. Keep your muscles toned and don’t hesitate to join gyms because that money is worth spending.
