Fans of ‘General Hospital‘ have reason to celebrate as Steve Burton is officially making his comeback to the beloved ABC soap opera. His return as Jason Morgan was announced during the show’s 60th Anniversary special, which aired on January 4th.

Burton, who initially joined the series in 1991 and had two stints until 2021, left the show due to a disagreement with its COVID-19 vaccine policy. Notably, during his tenure, he had a physical altercation with co-star Ingo Rademacher, who portrayed Jasper Jacks and was openly critical of the vaccine mandates.

Following his departure, Burton sued the TV network, alleging religious discrimination. Reflecting on his exit from ‘General Hospital’, Burton told Deadline, “The circumstance [of his GH departure] was tough… I’ll always be grateful for my time there. It was my family for so long. I grew up there and the fans have always been awesome to me.”

Post-‘General Hospital’, Burton ventured into other projects, including a role in ‘Days of Our Lives’ spin-off ‘Beyond Salem’, and more recently, an appearance in ‘DOOL’ earlier this year.
