Scott Disick recently opened up about his candid conversations with his 15-year-old son, Mason, regarding his past struggles with alcohol. Speaking on the first episode of Khloé Kardashian’s new podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land, the reality star reflected on how his past behavior may impact his children’s perceptions of him.
During the discussion, Kardashian asked Disick whether he would allow his kids to watch their family’s reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, in the future.
“Yeah. I think it’s cute that they have… like a lot of families show their kids albums of pictures. We’re able to show them full videos of our lives. Of them being born. Of them growing up,” Disick responded.
Kardashian acknowledged the challenges of revisiting some of their past behavior on the show. “I would be mortified for so much that my kids would have to see,” she admitted, referencing Disick’s younger days. “But the version you are right now and the version you were then, sticking hundred-dollar bills down waiters’ throats and yelling at people.”
Disick agreed, saying, “I thought about that just now. I don’t want them to see that. But the truth is I do explain to Mason how drinking affected me and how badly it put me in certain places.”
The father of three shared how he has approached these discussions with Mason, ensuring his son understands the lessons without feeling judged. “He, for a while, thought I was going to treat him differently because of that,” Disick revealed. “And I said, ‘I’m not treating you any different because of my mistakes or how I lived. But if I see a problem with alcohol with you, I will take action. But other than that, you are just like every other kid.’”
Disick, who shares Mason, 15, Penelope, 12, and Reign, 10, with ex-partner Kourtney Kardashian, expressed his intention to let his children make their own choices while stepping in if necessary. “You’re going to try drinking when you’re going to try drinking, but if I see a problem that might be hereditary, then I’ll jump in.”
The conversation highlights Disick’s growth and his commitment to being transparent with his children about the lessons he’s learned from his past.
