Rapper 50 Cent has reached a settlement in a civil assault case that was nearing a key court hearing, wrapping up the dispute just days before the release of a Netflix documentary he produced about Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The lawsuit was filed by Guadalupe de los Santos, who alleged the incident happened in September 2024. According to the complaint, 50 Cent, whose legal name is Curtis Jackson III, approached de los Santos from behind in his SUV while stopped at a traffic light in Los Angeles.
People reported that the filing described how the SUV’s front passenger door “suddenly and forcefully opened” and struck de los Santos, knocking him from his scooter. The lawsuit claimed the action happened under Jackson’s direction. De los Santos sought damages for assault, battery, emotional distress, and negligence.

The case was first filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court but was later transferred to the US District Court for the Central District of Florida. Jackson had moved to dismiss the lawsuit, and a hearing on that motion was set for December 22. Instead, both sides notified the court that they reached an agreement in principle on November 25 and were working to finalise a formal settlement.
The resolution arrives at a notable moment for Jackson. Netflix is preparing to debut Sean Combs The Reckoning, a four-part docuseries he executive-produced. The series premieres on December 2 and examines Diddy’s rise in the music industry and the criminal activity tied to him following his federal convictions. The timing has drawn attention, with some observers noting the high-profile lawsuit ending shortly before a major release connected to Jackson’s ongoing public feud with Combs.
The documentary has already generated advance buzz, both for its subject matter and for its potential impact on the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Combs. Jackson has been vocal on social media for months about allegations involving Diddy, positioning the series as a deeper look at what he has called a long-ignored pattern of behaviour.

While details of the settlement have not been publicly disclosed, the agreement brings an abrupt end to a case that had the potential to extend into a lengthy legal battle. For Jackson, it clears the way for the rollout of his latest project, one that is expected to draw significant attention when it lands on the streaming platform next week.
