Johnny Depp is reportedly on the brink of making a blockbuster return to the big screen, with insider sources claiming he is in “advanced talks” to reprise his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean film.
According to The Express, the potential deal follows Depp’s highly publicized legal victory in 2022 against ex-wife Amber Heard in a libel case that dominated global headlines. The source stated that the agreement for Depp’s return is “very close to being a done deal.”

If confirmed, the film would mark Depp’s first major studio project since the trial, which saw the actor largely retreat from Hollywood productions in the aftermath of the long-running dispute.
A senior executive reportedly told The Express, “It’s very close to being a done deal,” hinting that Disney may finally be ready to re-embrace the star who helped turn the Pirates franchise into a multibillion-dollar global phenomenon.
Meanwhile, Depp is also said to be returning to familiar creative ground with another long-time collaborator. According to In Touch Weekly, the actor is currently working on a new thriller titled Day Drinker alongside Oscar-winning actress Penélope Cruz.

“This is a long time coming for Johnny,” a source told the publication. “He was quite literally in exile. But his win at trial over Amber opened the door for him to slowly rebuild his reputation and start working again.”
Depp, who began easing back into film with a series of European projects following the trial, now appears to be re-establishing his place in the Hollywood spotlight.
“He started with foreign productions and now he’s back in the Hollywood fold,” the insider continued. “He’s working with Penélope Cruz at the moment, which is fantastic because he has a great rapport and history with her. They go back decades.”
Depp and Cruz previously co-starred in Blow (2001) and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), making this reunion particularly notable for fans of both actors.
While Disney has not officially confirmed Depp’s involvement in the upcoming Pirates film, the mounting reports and insider chatter suggest that Captain Jack Sparrow may soon set sail again, bringing with him a wave of nostalgia and redemption for one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars.
