Jerry Schilling, a long-time friend of Lisa Marie Presley, shared his thoughts on the final days of Elvis Presley’s only child, a year after her passing. Schilling, who had known Lisa Marie since her birth, expressed his disbelief and sadness to People Magazine, noting the unexpected nature of her death.

Schilling recalled Lisa Marie’s resilience and spirit, particularly in the days leading up to her untimely death. She had appeared in good spirits at the Golden Globes in 2023, an event Schilling accompanied her to, just two days before she passed away. Her death was attributed to complications from a small bowel obstruction following a cardiac arrest.

He highlighted the challenging times Lisa Marie faced, especially after the tragic loss of her son, Ben Storm Keough, who died by suicide in July 2020. Schilling noted Lisa Marie’s withdrawal from public life following her son’s death, emphasizing her dedication to her three daughters as a driving force in her life.

Lisa Marie, mother to actress Riley Keough and twins Harper and Finley, re-emerged into the public eye with Baz Luhrmann’s film “Elvis.” Schilling, who hadn’t seen her since Ben Storm’s funeral, remarked on her frail appearance but also her effort to engage during the film’s promotions.

At the Golden Globes, Lisa Marie seemed to enjoy herself, leading Schilling to believe she was recovering. However, the news of her passing just two days later left him in shock. “I still can’t believe it,” he said, reflecting on the profound impact of her absence.
