Jay Z’s Alleged Son Drops Lawsuit but Vows Fight Isn’t Over Yet

The long-running paternity saga surrounding hip-hop mogul Jay Z took a new twist this month after Rymir Satterthwaite, who has for years claimed to be the rapper’s son, officially dropped his federal lawsuit.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Satterthwaite filed a notice of withdrawal on July 18, ending the latest legal attempt to compel Jay Z, 54, to take a paternity test. But despite this legal retreat, Satterthwaite insists his fight is far from over.

“It has been a crazy couple of weeks. I have not stopped my fight,” Satterthwaite said in a video posted to social media shortly after the filing. “I want to step back and play chess, not checkers.”

Satterthwaite, now 32, has maintained for years that his late mother, Wanda, had a relationship with Jay Z in the 1990s, which allegedly resulted in his birth. He has repeatedly requested that the rapper submit to a DNA test—something that has never occurred.

Jay Z, who shares three children with global superstar Beyoncé, has consistently denied the allegations. His legal team has fought the claims aggressively over the years, labeling them “fabricated” and characterizing Satterthwaite’s efforts as harassment.

In fact, the latest dismissal came on the heels of another legal motion. On the same day Satterthwaite withdrew his case, Jay Z’s attorneys filed a motion to dismiss, describing the lawsuit as “just the latest” in what they called a decades-long campaign of unfounded claims.

Court filings also noted that Satterthwaite’s allegations had already been “rejected in multiple other courts,” and that his persistent legal maneuvers even led to a contempt order in a previous case. In 2022, Jay Z was granted a restraining order against Satterthwaite, with the court citing “frivolous” legal actions that appeared to have no merit.

While the federal case has been shelved for now, Satterthwaite’s video message suggests he is not giving up. His cryptic remarks about “playing chess” hint at a possible change in strategy rather than a full surrender.

Jay Z has yet to publicly address the most recent developments, but his legal team remains firm in its position that the claims are baseless and that the rapper has been subjected to years of unjust harassment. Whether this marks the end of the legal drama or merely the closing of another chapter remains to be seen.
