Fast and Furious upcoming film F9 is yet to be released across the U.S.
Fast and Furious film immediately made it to the top despite limited cinema viewing worldwide.
Fast and Furious creators set the ninth installment F9 for a June 25 release. Although it is still a month before that day comes, the film already drove with a hot start.

In a new estimate by CNN Business, the film already brought home $162.4 million internationally during this weekend alone. The $135.6 million of which came from China — the biggest movie market worldwide.
The number led Vin Diesel’s film to be the flick with the highest and biggest opening amid the health crisis. The new development came after the movie faced several debut date changes.
Originally, Universal Studios scheduled the chasing during last year’s summer before moving it on April 2. The company rescheduled it again for May 28 before finalizing the schedule on June 25.
According to Antony D’Alessandro of the Deadline, the major overseas markets affected the films’ theatrical release dates.
F9 currently faces several limited releases, including Focus Features’ Blue Bayou and Sony’s Venom: Let There be Carnage.
Fast and Furious Performance is Great Sign
The solid performance of the ninth installment of F9 gives hope to other movies. Currently, movie theater industry tries to recover following two horrible years of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Comscore’s senior data analyst, Paul Dergarabedian, F9 made an outstanding performance that also gave off a positive sign.
“If the impressive international results are any indication, then ‘F9’ may have US audiences lining up to get in on the action come next month,” he said.
While it is a surprising milestone amid a worldwide crisis, the Fast and Furious franchise never disappoints its creators.
Why F9 is a hit
Through its run, the franchise already earned over $6 billion globally. Its last film, The Fate of the Furious in 2017, made an impressive $1.2 billion in sales. 82 percent of the total earnings came from overseas viewers.
Meanwhile, the exciting details about the film surely contributed to its success, especially Sung Kang’s return.
For what it’s worth, Han’s death stirred petitions among “Fast & Furious” fans, pleading the creators to bring back the character and give him justice.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Diesel himself hinted at the actor’s comeback.
“If you remember, he’s kind of responsible for the away years of [Diesel’s character] Dom Toretto,” Diesel said. “He’s the one doing jobs with him in Mexico, he’s the only one who knows where Dom is, and in many ways is the bridge for Dom when Dom comes back in Tokyo Drift.”
