Five-time Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams admitted she has little memory of her early television work, including a small role on Baywatch when she was just a teenager.
Williams, who is currently nominated for two Emmys as both lead actress and producer for the series Dying for Sex, appeared on Entertainment Weekly’s The Awardist podcast, where she reflected on her career.
During the conversation, the hosts asked her about appearing on Baywatch in 1989. At the time, Williams was around 13 years old and played a character named Bridget Bowers, who developed a crush on Hobie, played by Jeremy Jackson. She later showed up again on the series, credited only as “Hobie’s Groupie.”

When pressed on whether the two characters were meant to be the same person, Williams was stumped. “Whoa… I mean…,” she responded before laughing. “I don’t know who is equipped to answer that question. Not me. That might be some stuff for the chat.”
The actress, now celebrated for acclaimed performances in The Fabelmans, Blue Valentine, and Manchester by the Sea, admitted she remembers almost nothing from that experience. “I don’t remember much,” she said. “I just remember the bikini hanging in my trailer.”
She was asked if she felt nervous seeing “a Baywatch bikini” at such a young age. “I mean… I don’t… think I was 12,” she replied with a laugh. “I didn’t know what thoughts to think. It was all kinds of experiences and very little processing.”
Williams’ comments highlight the contrast between her early roles and her celebrated career today. What began as a small guest spot on a global hit series eventually led to a career filled with complex and acclaimed performances on both television and film.

Now, with two Emmy nominations in hand, Williams is once again being recognized for her talent, though she admits that her early steps into Hollywood are a blur. For fans, the idea that the acclaimed actress once appeared in a brightly colored bikini on Baywatch serves as a reminder of how even the most accomplished performers start with humble beginnings.
While Williams may not recall all the details, her ability to laugh about it underscores her perspective on a career that has spanned decades. For her, the focus remains on the present and the challenging roles that continue to define her reputation as one of Hollywood’s most respected actors.
