Mariah Carey sidesteps Nick Cannon question while reflecting on raising twins

Mariah Carey has made headlines after she tactfully dodged a question about co-parenting with ex-husband Nick Cannon during a recent interview, instead focusing on life with their 14-year-old twins, Monroe “Roe” and Moroccan “Roc.”

Appearing on CBS Mornings on Wednesday, Carey was asked by host Gayle King how she manages raising her children alongside Cannon, whose personal life has been the subject of ongoing media attention.

“Hmmm,” Carey responded coolly. “I kinda feel like it’s best if I don’t talk about him because he can just be in his own world.” She quickly added, “No offense to him.”

The moment, brief as it was, spread quickly online. Social media users weighed in with sharp commentary, many interpreting Carey’s choice of words as a graceful yet telling response. One Instagram user quipped, “We are all embarrassed by our baby daddy chile.”

Another wrote, “If the father of my kids went on a baby-making shopping spree after me, I wouldn’t wanna talk about it either.” Others suggested Carey was protecting her own image. “She doesn’t want this serial baby daddy tied to her brand,” one commenter noted.

Carey, 56, and Cannon, 44, finalized their divorce in 2016 after eight years of marriage. Since then, Cannon has gone on to father 10 additional children with five different women, frequently making headlines for his unconventional family life.

Cannon himself has acknowledged the choices he made in the years following his divorce. In a candid appearance on The Breakfast Club, the Masked Singer host said his behavior was rooted in unresolved pain. “If I had done the work, the healing, after getting divorced, I probably would have taken my time in a lot of other scenarios,” Cannon admitted.

He continued, “For whatever reason, I thought that was the answer a lot of times. Like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna figure it out over here.’ Now, you’re leaving trauma every step of the way instead of fixing it from its origin.”

Despite Cannon’s highly publicized personal life, Carey has largely kept her focus on raising their twins while maintaining her career. The singer’s decision to avoid expanding on her relationship with her ex-husband during the interview reflects her preference to keep the spotlight on her children and her work rather than Cannon’s growing family tree.

For Carey, the exchange was a reminder of her ability to command attention without saying much at all.
