Lady Gaga praises Andrew Watt as rare musical visionary ahead of new album

Lady Gaga is full of admiration for producer and songwriter Andrew Watt, describing him as “a uniquely gifted producer and musician” in an exclusive statement to People magazine. The pair collaborated closely on Mayhem, Gaga’s upcoming album, which Watt co-wrote and executive-produced alongside the singer and her fiancé, Michael Polansky.

Known for his genre-spanning versatility, Watt has worked with an impressive roster of artists, including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, The Rolling Stones, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, and Pearl Jam. “Everything he does is rooted in a deep love for music and for the people who make it,” Gaga said. “You can feel how profoundly it’s shaped his life.

He lives and breathes it in a way that’s rare even among artists.” The 39-year-old singer went on to praise Watt’s musicianship, saying, “He can truly play, which opens up an entirely different dimension in the studio.” She called him “one of the most dynamic collaborators in modern music,” crediting his instinct, taste, and understanding of sonic history for bringing something special to their creative partnership.

Recalling how their collaboration began, Watt told People that Gaga and Polansky invited him to their home before the recording process started. “It was after we did the Stones collab together,” he said. “I was sitting with them and was playing a couple of tracks that I had, and things started flowing from her.”

According to Watt, the chemistry in the studio was immediate, with Gaga diving into multiple musical styles that reflected her wide-ranging career. “She has done so many different types of music… there’s nothing she can’t do,” he said.

Describing the project as the most fulfilling experience of his career, Watt said, “It was the most exciting album I’ve ever been a part of, and we worked at it for longer than any album I’ve ever worked on — a year straight without stopping.” Watt’s approach to music has earned him widespread respect across the industry.

His ability to blend classic rock sensibilities with modern pop production has made him one of today’s most sought-after producers. For Gaga, collaborating with Watt was about more than just crafting songs — it was about sharing a creative space with someone who mirrors her own passion and work ethic.

“He brings out something real, something alive in every artist he works with,” she said. “That’s what makes him so extraordinary.” With Mayhem on the horizon, fans can expect a bold fusion of styles that celebrates both Gaga’s fearless artistry and Watt’s innovative musical vision.
