Kim Kardashian is opening up about a difficult setback in her long-running journey to become a lawyer, admitting she felt “uncomfortable” and lost confidence after failing the California bar exam. The 45-year-old reality star has spent years studying law, but it was recently revealed she did not pass her final test and will need to retake it if she hopes to qualify.
Speaking to Time magazine, Kim shared how deeply the news affected her. “I took a minute to process that, and instantly, when I got my results, I didn’t feel good about it,” she said. “I was really uncomfortable and not confident for a while. You get the results on a Friday, and I knew Sunday morning they were going to be live on the internet.”
Because she knew her results would become public, Kim decided to address the failure head-on. “So, I wanted to mention it first and let people know that it didn’t go my way. So, instantly I was like, OK, let’s do this, I know what I’ve got to do.”
Despite the disappointment, Kim made it clear that she isn’t giving up. “This really sucks because I put so much time into it, but I know what I can do better,” she said. She added that while she did feel low about failing, she leaned on her ability to bounce back: “I’m pretty good at taking a failure and turning it into something, and I just don’t have the time to dwell.

You can feel sorry for yourself for a second, but I need to take that time and put it into studying more.” Kim has already shown how intense her study schedule can be. On her show The Kardashians—filmed before she received her results—she revealed just how hard she worked to prepare.
“It’s just the craziest, most emotional roller-coaster,” she said. “I really do need to pass on the first try because I don’t have another few months I can give up. I studied nine hours a day, every day. I am feeling a little bit overwhelmed.”
After learning she had failed, Kim addressed the news on Instagram with humor and determination. “Well… I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” she wrote. But she doubled down on her commitment: “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up, just more studying and even more determination.” While the setback was tough, Kim’s message is clear: she’s not stopping until she becomes a lawyer.
