Clarkson was not alone on the trip. She was joined by her sister Alyssa and her children, 11-year-old River and nine-year-old Remington. The family’s appearance at the busy airport marked Clarkson’s first outing in the weeks since Blackstock’s passing on August 7.
The American Idol alum has temporarily stepped back from her professional commitments to focus on her children during this difficult period. In fact, just a day before Blackstock’s death, she canceled her Las Vegas residency shows, telling fans that her family needed her attention.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson shared in a heartfelt Instagram post. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
It was the second time Clarkson had postponed her residency due to Blackstock’s health struggles. The couple, who were married for nearly seven years before their divorce in 2020, continued to co-parent their two children despite their separation.
