Jessica Simpson is celebrating eight years of sobriety, reflecting on how removing alcohol from her life gave her clarity, strength, and a renewed sense of direction. The singer and actress shared a heartfelt message on November 2, marking the milestone and expressing gratitude for her journey toward faith and self-acceptance.
“8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self-sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing,” Simpson wrote on Instagram. “Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of God’s purpose for my life.”
Simpson, 45, who shares three children — Maxwell, 13, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 6 — with estranged husband Eric Johnson, said sobriety reshaped her outlook on life. She described alcohol as something that once “silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency.”

Now, she says, her choices are guided by faith and clarity. “Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith. Both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see. I’m so happy I chose faith over fear,” she wrote. She added, “It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender.”
This milestone comes during a time of transition for Simpson. Earlier this year, she confirmed her separation from Johnson and has since begun rebuilding both her personal and professional life. She recently returned to acting, joining the cast of the upcoming legal drama All’s Fair, alongside Kim Kardashian, Niecy Nash, and Sarah Paulson.
At the Los Angeles premiere in October, Simpson told E! News, “I feel like at 45, I’m born again. It’s like a resurrection of everything entertainment for me, and it’s so nice.”
Alongside acting, Simpson has also returned to her musical roots. After more than a decade away from the studio, she released an EP titled Nashville Canyon: Part 1 earlier this year and has announced concert dates for 2025.
“There was a 15-year break and it felt very long,” she said, explaining that she focused on raising her children and growing her fashion brand during that time. Now, Simpson says she feels reenergized and ready for new creative pursuits.
Speaking about her experience at All’s Fair, she said, “It was an amazing experience. I’m craving doing it again.” With sobriety, faith, and a renewed purpose, Simpson is stepping into a new chapter—one defined by resilience, clarity, and the courage to begin again.
