The legal fight surrounding the film It Ends With Us has deepened, as actress Isabela Ferrer is pushing back against filmmaker Justin Baldoni. Ferrer, who portrayed the younger version of Blake Lively’s character in the film, claims she has been unfairly targeted in the ongoing dispute between Baldoni and Lively.
According to filings obtained by People, Ferrer’s legal team argued that Baldoni has been “harassing” her with a subpoena connected to the case. The rebuttal was filed in response to Baldoni’s August 12 motion, in which he accused Ferrer of ignoring his request.
Her attorneys said the motion was not filed for legitimate purposes but rather “for improper purposes and with the aim of harassing” her. They further pointed to issues involving Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios.
Ferrer’s team maintains that her original acting contract with Wayfarer required the studio to pay her legal expenses when Blake Lively subpoenaed her in February. Instead, they claim, Wayfarer offered to cover her costs only if she surrendered control of her response. Her lawyers say that the condition would have prevented her from sharing documents that “reveal the true facts.”

Her team also accused Baldoni of making “no effort to tailor the subpoena towards the production of new or different materials,” saying the filings serve only “to harass Ms. Ferrer.” The rebuttal described both the motion and subpoena as “transparent efforts to exert pressure on Ms. Ferrer.”
In addition to seeking a dismissal of Baldoni’s motion, Ferrer’s lawyers are asking the court to impose sanctions against him. The disagreement is the latest development in a legal saga that has drawn significant attention in recent months. Tensions escalated earlier this year when Lively subpoenaed Ferrer in connection with her claims against Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios.

Ferrer, only a supporting player in the film, has since found herself caught between high-profile Hollywood figures in a dispute that shows no signs of slowing down. Her attorneys argue that Baldoni’s actions go beyond routine legal maneuvering, describing them as part of a pattern of undue pressure. By refusing to accept the terms set by Wayfarer, Ferrer signaled her intention to maintain independence in handling her legal matters, even if that decision meant facing added challenges.
For now, the matter rests with the court, which will decide whether Baldoni’s efforts amount to harassment and whether sanctions are appropriate. The outcome could set an important precedent for how studios handle obligations to actors caught up in outside legal disputes.
