Dolly Parton has revealed why she lets go of dieting during the holiday season, embracing festive indulgence without guilt. “We all start eating around Thanksgiving, and we eat until the first of January,” Parton shared. “And that’s when we all go on our diets. You know how that goes?” When it comes to Christmas, the 11-time Grammy winner has a simple approach: enjoy everything. “Well, I’m not going to even think about dieting now.
I’m just going to eat everything I want to,” she said. Parton acknowledged the aftermath of holiday indulgence with her signature humor. “You stretch your clothes out! But you’re ready for a diet after the first of the year,” she added, hinting at her new year plan.
She also gave a glimpse of her holiday menu, describing it as a feast filled with Southern comfort food. “We have turkey and ham, black-eyed peas and cornbread dressing, and then we have lots of mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and that sort of thing,” she revealed.
When it comes to staying fit, Parton keeps it practical and avoids high-impact activities. “I do a little bit of yoga. I don’t do much running; I’m not trying to give myself black eyes!” she joked. Instead, the 78-year-old music icon focuses on low-impact exercises. “I just try to do stretches and little floor exercises. But I’m not big on that,” she admitted.
