Ben Affleck has opened up about the emotional aftermath of his split from Jennifer Lopez, offering rare insights just two months after their divorce was finalized. In an exclusive interview with British GQ, the Oscar-winning actor shared a heartfelt reflection on the deeply personal chapter in his life, addressing the emotional complexity without dramatizing the experience.
“There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue… There is no, ‘This is what happened.’ It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do,” Affleck explained. “And the reason I don’t want to share that is just sort of embarrassing. It feels vulnerable.”

The actor, best known for films like Good Will Hunting and Argo, explained his decision to remain low profile during the separation, saying it stemmed from a desire to process things privately and with dignity.
Affleck also discussed the differing perspectives he and Lopez had about living a public life, particularly when it came to media attention and social media. Reflecting on his appearance in Lopez’s 2024 film The Greatest Love Story, Affleck acknowledged how their personalities diverged in managing fame and personal boundaries.
“I had a very firm sense of boundaries initially around the press, while Jen, I don’t think, objected to it in the way I did,” he admitted. “I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media.’ And then I sort of realised it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of like you’re gonna marry a boat captain and you go, ‘Well, I don’t like the water.'”
