Biden to Mark 22nd 9/11 Anniversary in Alaska; Harris to Attend NYC Ceremony

On the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, President Joe Biden will participate in a memorial ceremony in Alaska, a move that has raised eyebrows as it distances him from traditional observation sites.

The tragic events of September 11, 2001, saw two planes crashing into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon, and another, believed to be headed for the U.S. Capitol or the White House, landing in Pennsylvania.

Since then, successive U.S. presidents have typically chosen to commemorate the day at sites in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or the White House.

According to a report from The Hill, This year, however, Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband will represent the administration in New York City, leaving many to wonder about Biden’s decision to attend a ceremony far from these locations.

Speculation about Biden’s choice ranges from giving Harris a more prominent role to theories related to his recent withdrawal from Afghanistan. The latter move, which was criticized by many, saw a decline in his approval ratings, especially after the tragic events at Kabul Airport that resulted in the deaths of 13 American service members.

Regardless of the reason, the 9/11 anniversary is a solemn occasion, and all eyes will be on Biden and his choice of location for this year’s remembrance.
