A man from Georgia has been convicted of killing his wife and her brother to prevent her from discovering his extramarital affairs and secret children.
Jaquavia Jackson was found guilty of murdering Fulton County deputy Shakeema Jackson and her brother Levoy Brown in her Covington, Georgia home on October 27, 2021. The murders occurred the night before Jaquavia and Shakeema were due to attend a court hearing. Two women had alleged that Jaquavia had fathered children with them, as stated by the Newton County District Attorney’s Office.
The defendant had attempted to deceive his wife by sending someone else to undergo the DNA tests on his behalf. The forthcoming court session was meant to address these fraudulent DNA tests, at which point Shakeema would have discovered the extent of her husband’s deceit and infidelity, the statement added.
Following the murders, Jaquavia claimed that two unknown men had broken into the house and murdered his wife and her brother. However, surveillance footage from a neighbor’s Vivent security camera revealed no evidence of anyone entering or exiting the residence.
The statement further disclosed that Jaquavia had called a neighbor on the morning of the murders to inquire about the operational status of their security camera and was informed that it was not working. It was also mentioned that Jaquavia had fired a staged shot within the house. Jaquavia and Shakeema had a 17-month-old son together.
Jaquavia was found guilty of two counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of malice murder, and two counts of possession of a firearm during a felony. He is currently detained in Newton County jail following the verdict.
District Attorney Randy McGinley described the incident as a horrific, premeditated act that took a daughter and a son away from their family. He added that while nothing can compensate for the enormous loss of Shakeema and Levoy, this verdict ensures that the person responsible is held accountable.
