Photo Agency Refutes Claims of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Being in ‘Immediate Danger’ During Car Chase

Backgrid, the photo agency involved in the incident where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle claimed to be chased by paparazzi, has issued a response to their allegations. In a statement provided to The Messenger on Thursday, the agency clarified its position.

Backgrid acknowledged receiving photos and videos from freelance photographers who were present during the events of that night. They emphasized that their photographers had a professional responsibility to cover newsworthy events and personalities, and their intention was not to cause distress or harm to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

According to Backgrid, the photographers present reported no near-collisions or near-crashes during the incident. They stated that, based on their observations, they believe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not in immediate danger at any point.

The agency expressed respect for the security detail’s work and emphasized that they do not condone harassment or illegal activities. They announced their commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

In response to the agency’s statement, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reiterated their claims of a “relentless pursuit” that lasted over two hours and involved multiple near-collisions. They emphasized that while public figures may attract public interest, they should never come at the expense of anyone’s safety.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were in New York for the Ms. Foundation’s Women of Vision Awards, where Meghan Markle was honored with the Women of Vision Award.
