King Charles drops bombshell on Beatrice, Eugenie: ‘Leave royal property’

King Charles has reportedly issued strict instructions to royal aides to review the accommodation arrangements currently enjoyed by Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, which could prove a significant and damaging blow to the York sisters’ standing within the royal family.

The monarch ordered officials to examine how properties across the royal estate are being used, following reports that Beatrice and Eugenie had been living rent-free in royal residences for close to two decades. Beatrice currently occupies an apartment at St James’s Palace during her visits to London, while Eugenie has access to a property within the Kensington Palace estate.

According to Radar Online, a source close to the situation revealed that the sisters have already been put on notice. “Senior royal officials have made it increasingly clear that the accommodation arrangements currently enjoyed by Beatrice and Eugenie are not viewed as a permanent entitlement,” the insider said.

“The sisters were informed that, as part of a wider reassessment of how royal properties are allocated and utilised, they should begin exploring other options for when they need a base in London.”

The move signals a broader shift in how the palace views its residential assets, with residences now understood to be reserved strictly for those serving the institution in an active capacity. The implications for Beatrice and Eugenie are significant, as losing access to these properties would further cement their diminished role within the monarchy’s working structure.

Should the report prove accurate, the decision would carry meaning well beyond the practical. The source suggested that King Charles’s firm stance reflects a wider view that the York family — already tarnished by the long shadow of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal surrounding their father, Prince Andrew — no longer fits within even a leaner, more streamlined vision of the royal family.

“While officials may describe the move as practical housekeeping, it sends a powerful message about priorities and about who is expected to occupy royal properties in the years ahead,” the report stated.

The review also appears to align closely with Prince William’s future vision, who has reportedly long favoured a more disciplined approach to royal association. Those close to the Prince of Wales suggest he is determined to maintain a clear distance between the monarchy and any figures whose presence risks undermining its reputation or public standing.

For Beatrice and Eugenie, who have spent years navigating their complicated position as non-working royals with close family ties to the institution, the loss of London residences would represent far more than a logistical inconvenience. It would be a very public statement about where they stand — and, more pointedly, where they do not — in the evolving hierarchy of the British royal family.

Whether King Charles ultimately follows through with formal changes to the property arrangements remains to be seen, but the message being sent to the York sisters, according to those familiar with palace thinking, already appears unmistakably clear.
