Rapper Offset was shot Monday evening outside one of Florida’s most prominent entertainment venues, sending shockwaves through the music world just days after the anniversary of a previous tragedy that had already scarred his inner circle.
The incident took place on April 6, 2026, in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, shortly after 7pm. Authorities confirmed that an individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting, and the rapper whose legal name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus was transported to a nearby hospital. His representatives moved quickly to reassure fans, confirming that he is “fine” and currently receiving medical care under close monitoring.
Police responded swiftly to the scene, containing the situation before it could escalate further. Two individuals have since been detained in connection with the shooting, though authorities have not yet disclosed their identities or the precise nature of their involvement. Officials also confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public, and normal operations at the hotel and casino resumed without disruption.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear. Investigators have not yet determined whether the shooting was a targeted hit or a random incident, and the case remains under active investigation.
Offset’s fellow Migos member Takeoff died aged 28 in 2022 after he was shot outside a Houston bowling alley where he and his uncle, fellow Migos member Quavo, were playing dice. The accused, Patrick Clark, has maintained his innocence and will go to trial in November, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The news struck a particularly painful chord given Offset’s history. He rose to global fame as a member of the Atlanta rap trio Migos, alongside Quavo and the late Takeoff, a group widely credited with shaping the sound and flow of a generation of hip-hop. In November 2022, Takeoff was fatally shot in Houston following an altercation outside a bowling alley — a loss that hit Offset deeply and publicly.
Off the stage, Offset has also navigated a high-profile personal life. He was married to Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B in 2017, and the couple share three children together. The two reportedly separated in 2024.
As of now, Offset remains in stable condition as investigators work to piece together the full picture of what unfolded outside the casino that evening. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
