Prince Harry Returns to Court as High-Profile Libel Case Intensifies

Prince Harry was back at the Royal Courts of Justice on Thursday morning, returning to the High Court just a day after his legal team pushed back strongly against Associated Newspapers Limited’s line of questioning. The Duke of Sussex arrived around 10 am, not to give evidence himself this time, but to show support for his fellow claimants as the case entered its fourth day.

His presence appeared deliberate. Rather than stepping away after his own testimony, Harry seemed keen to emphasise that the lawsuit is not just about his personal grievances but about a broader fight over press conduct and accountability. The atmosphere around the case has remained intense, with every appearance closely watched.

The proceedings are set to draw even more attention, with actress Liz Hurley expected to give evidence next. She is due to arrive with her son, Damian, adding another layer of star power to a case that already features several well-known figures. Their involvement has turned what might otherwise be a technical legal battle into a headline-dominating courtroom drama.

Earlier in the week, the courtroom atmosphere was far from friendly. On Wednesday, Harry spent roughly two hours being questioned by lawyers for Associated Newspapers Limited. Observers described the exchanges as frosty, with sustained pressure on the Duke over his claims. Afterwards, Harry offered a pointed response to the media, saying, “Today we reminded the Mail Group who is on trial and why.”

Much of Harry’s evidence has centred on the emotional impact of press intrusion on his private life. At one point, he became visibly emotional as he spoke about the effect of media coverage on his wife. He told the court that the attention had turned life for Meghan into “an absolute misery.” His testimony framed the case not just as a legal dispute but as a deeply personal battle, shaped by years of painful experiences.

He explained that the ongoing legal fight has taken a heavy toll on his family and made clear that his goal is not revenge but accountability. According to Harry, what he wants most is a genuine apology and an acceptance of responsibility from those he believes crossed the line.

The lawsuit focuses on 14 articles published over several years, many of which centred on his past relationship with Chelsy Davy. Reflecting on that period, Harry told the court, “It’s impossible to keep a relationship alive under that weight,” arguing that the coverage felt designed to inflame situations and boost sales rather than report responsibly.

He also spoke about the publication of details from private family conversations following the circulation of a photograph of his dying mother, Princess Diana. He described that episode as an act of extraordinary cruelty, underscoring how deeply those experiences continue to shape his mistrust of the press.

As the case continues, Harry’s return to court signals that he intends to remain visibly involved in a legal battle that has become one of the most closely watched media trials in recent years.
