Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly growing anxious about the possibility of losing their titles, with insiders claiming they feel increasing pressure as Prince William takes a more assertive role within the monarchy. According to a source who spoke with Heat World, the couple believes the future king is preparing to take action against them—and they’re bracing for the fallout.
The concern intensified after Harper’s Bazaar noted that Meghan was introduced as “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex” while arriving at a friend’s home on New York’s Upper East Side. Insiders say moments like this highlight how heavily the couple still relies on their royal status, especially as speculation about William’s next steps grows.
Their worries reportedly spiked after Prince Andrew had a hereditary title removed by King Charles. The insider suggests this move sent a message to the U.S.-based couple: nothing is guaranteed. Given their own history of public tell-alls—including Harry’s memoir Spare, their Netflix docuseries, and the Oprah interview—the couple fears William sees it as his responsibility to respond.
According to the source, “he sees it as his duty to punish them for that. He’s especially furious that Meghan is still milking her royal title for gobs of cash and has made no secret of the fact that he finds it insulting to the hardworking members of the family that Meghan and Harry are allowed to get away with this grifting.”
The insider continued, noting that William is moving carefully and deliberately. “William is a methodical guy; he’s taking this step by step, and now that he’s done with Andrew and Sarah, he’s putting his focus on Meghan and Harry.”
This has left the Sussexes feeling cornered. “It’s no wonder they’re shaking in their boots because when William finally does bring down the axe, it will be a complete disaster for them,” the source said. They explained that despite appearances, Harry and Meghan’s public image still depends heavily on their royal connection.
“They may try to act above it all, but their whole brand is built around their connection to the royals; it’s the backbone of everything. Losing their titles is going to make them irrelevant.” The insider added that the couple’s strategy now is simple: maximise earnings while they still can. “Aside from trying to work things out with William, their only option is to cash in as much as they can now, which they’re furiously trying to do. But the overwhelming feeling right now is one of defeat because there really doesn’t seem to be any way of escaping William’s wrath.”
