A$AP Rocky Sued by Neighbor for $1.1 Million Over Alleged Flood Damage in NYC Condo

A$AP Rocky is facing a lawsuit from his downstairs neighbor, who claims a severe water leak from the rapper’s multimillion-dollar New York City condo caused “catastrophic” damage to their home.

The 35-year-old musician, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, owns a sprawling full-floor loft valued at around $11 million. The 4,800-square-foot property includes three bedrooms and is located in a historic building originally constructed in 1895 and renovated in the 1990s.

According to court filings, the owner of the apartment directly below—valued at $6.5 million—alleges that a major leak in December 2024 led to flooding that made their residence “completely uninhabitable.” The lawsuit, filed on October 30 in Manhattan County Supreme Court, attributes the “devastating water intrusion” to the alleged negligence of Mayers and a local contractor, ADE Pro Painting.

Documents detail that the flooding caused widespread damage to the neighbor’s property, including fixtures, flooring, furnishings, and personal belongings such as clothing and furniture. The total losses are estimated to exceed $700,000.

The neighbor further claims to have incurred roughly $200,000 in temporary housing and related expenses since being forced to vacate the unit due to the water damage. The legal complaint seeks $1.1 million in total damages, alleging that multiple hot water pipes burst in and around A$AP Rocky’s apartment last December, triggering the flooding.

Neither A$AP Rocky nor his representatives have publicly commented on the lawsuit. The contractor named in the filing, ADE Pro Painting, has also not responded to requests for comment.

The case adds a legal complication for the rapper, who is best known for his chart-topping hits and high-profile relationship with music icon Rihanna. The couple, who share two young children, have spent much of the past year balancing family life with major professional projects, including Rihanna’s recent return to the studio and Rocky’s ongoing music ventures.

Property disputes involving water damage are not uncommon in New York’s luxury real estate market, where aging infrastructure often intersects with high-end renovations. However, the scale of the damage described in this case stands out, with the affected apartment reportedly undergoing extensive remediation and restoration efforts.

The lawsuit remains pending in the Manhattan Supreme Court, where both parties are expected to present evidence in the coming months. For now, the dispute underscores how even the city’s most exclusive residences are not immune to costly and disruptive property mishaps.
