Prince Harry’s past remarks about his uncle, Prince Andrew, have resurfaced following Andrew’s recent decision to stop using his royal titles, according to a report from the Daily Express. The renewed attention comes as the Duke of York faces mounting scrutiny over his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
While Harry has not publicly commented on the latest developments, excerpts from his 2023 memoir Spare reveal his long-standing frustration with what he perceived as unfair treatment by the royal institution. In the book, Harry detailed his anger over losing taxpayer-funded security after stepping back from royal duties in 2020, contrasting his situation with Andrew’s continued protection despite the scandals surrounding him.
In Spare, Harry wrote that he had assured his wife, Meghan Markle, that their security would not be withdrawn. “Never. Not in this climate of hate. Not after what happened to my mother [Princess Diana]. Also, not in the wake of my Uncle Andrew,” he wrote.

Harry went on to highlight the double standard he felt existed within the royal family. “He was embroiled in a shameful scandal, accused of the sexual assault of a young woman and no one had so much suggested that he lose his security,” the Duke noted. He reportedly told Meghan, “Whatever grievances people had against us, sex crimes weren’t on the list.”
The resurfaced remarks have gained new relevance in light of Prince Andrew’s announcement earlier this week that he would cease using his royal titles and honors. The decision followed renewed scrutiny of leaked emails between Andrew and Epstein, reigniting public debate over his past conduct and the monarchy’s handling of the scandal.
Harry, 41, has remained largely silent on his uncle’s situation but has frequently spoken about his own sense of betrayal by the royal family. In Spare and multiple interviews, he described feeling abandoned after being stripped of official duties and security protection, even as more serious allegations were directed at other members of the royal household.

Prince Andrew stepped away from public duties in 2019 after facing widespread backlash for his association with Epstein. Despite denying all allegations of sexual misconduct, his reputation has suffered, and his recent decision to stop using his titles is seen as a further attempt to draw a line under the controversy.
The contrast between Harry’s treatment and Andrew’s ongoing scandal has once again sparked discussion about perceived inconsistencies and privilege within the royal family.
