Trump Endorses Paul Gosar Despite Congressman’s History of Antisemitic Controversies

President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), a far-right congressman with a long record of making antisemitic and extremist remarks.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump announced his “Complete and Total Endorsement” of Gosar for re-election in next year’s midterm elections. “Dr. Paul Gosar has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump wrote.

He praised Gosar for “doing a fantastic job representing Arizona’s 9th Congressional District,” calling him “a MAGA Warrior” and commending his efforts to “Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Advance American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our now very Secure Border, SECURE, Support our Brave Military/Veterans, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”

The endorsement has sparked renewed attention on Gosar’s past controversies. The Arizona congressman has repeatedly faced criticism for associating with white nationalists and spreading extremist views. In 2022, Gosar and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) were condemned by their own Republican colleagues for appearing at a conference hosted by a white nationalist organization.

Both lawmakers defended their attendance at the time, claiming they were unaware of the group’s extremist affiliations. In 2024, The Arizona Mirror reported that several of Gosar’s congressional staffers were self-identified “groypers,” a term used to describe followers of white nationalist figure Nick Fuentes, who is known for his antisemitic and racist rhetoric.

Later that same year, the publication revealed that Gosar’s official newsletter had promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories, further fueling backlash. Despite these incidents, Gosar has remained a loyal supporter of Trump and one of the most outspoken members of the MAGA wing in Congress. He has echoed Trump’s claims of election fraud and repeatedly attacked political opponents on social media.

Trump’s endorsement underscores his continued alignment with controversial far-right figures within the Republican Party as he seeks to consolidate support ahead of the next election cycle. Critics argue that backing a figure like Gosar further normalizes extremist rhetoric in mainstream politics.

Gosar, who has served in Congress since 2011, has not responded publicly to the endorsement or renewed criticism surrounding his ties to extremist movements. His re-election campaign is expected to lean heavily on his connection to Trump and the president’s enduring influence among conservative voters.
