Sources within the palace suggest that plans for the Prince of Wales to eventually assume the throne may be accelerating as the monarch’s frailty becomes increasingly visible.
Royal commentator Rob Shuter shared the development in his ShuterScoop newsletter, writing, “They’re quietly preparing William to step up — fast,” quoting a senior courtier. “The illusion of perfect health is collapsing.” Shuter added that “frail” King Charles has sparked renewed health worries and that “the palace can’t hide this anymore.”
The remarks came after a recent joint appearance by King Charles and Prince William at London’s COP30 climate summit.
